Lutron estimates that the installed base of its products saves the nation nearly 10 billion kWh of electricity, or approximately $1 billion in utility costs per year.

History
Joel Spira, company chairman, founder and director of research, received his first US Patent (#3,032,688) for a dimming device in 1962. Some 50 years, 17,000 products and more than 2,000 patents later, the company is still located on its original campus in Coopersburg, Pennsylvania.
