EAAR’s goals are to:
Promote “Science, Technology, Engineering and Math” (STEM) as a resource for local communities by funding, equipment and educational services.
Promote amateur radio by educating the community through interactive demonstrations.
Collaborate with other amateur radio organizations and local emergency management groups to advance education in amateur radio.
EAAR Director’s are unpaid volunteers. All our directors are currently licensed amateur radio operators in good standing with the United States FCC Amateur Radio Service. Each director is also a member of the American Radio Relay League, the Nation’s largest and one of the oldest associations for Amateur Radio, founded in 1914. In addition, EAAR Board members are certified as volunteers as required by the Pennsylvania Child Protective Services Act of 2015.
Collectively, our directors bring a wide array of experiences to the organization. With over a half century of experience as emergency responders, we recognize the value of, and need to communicate during times of disaster. EAAR’s goal is to work with emergency communications teams, municipalities, and others capable of providing emergency communications by assisting these agencies with basic training and equipment.
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) are basic tenets of our organization. EAAR’s goals include getting information out to educators, schools, youth groups, and others so they may learn the basic concepts and principles used in the field of electricity and radio transmission. The concepts learned in Amateur Radio will transfer to engineering principles, scientific theories, and math needed to properly calculate appropriate values needed for specific projects.
EAAR works with community groups and other Amateur Radio Clubs to promote education of amateur radio. We are working to establish a Boy Scouts of America Venture Post dedicated to Amateur Radio. Our goals include working with teachers to introduce Amateur Radio into the schools. Technician level classes are offered to interested members of the community.
