General information
The Louisiana Department of Corrections (DOC) is responsible for the custody, care, and supervision of adult offenders across Louisiana. Just under half of Louisiana’s approximately 39,000 offenders are assigned to the state’s seven correctional facilities. The remaining offenders are assigned to parish facilities and transitional work programs. DOC’s Probation and Parole division supervises an additional 69,000 offenders.
Located in Baton Rouge, the Department’s Central Office (Headquarters) is comprised of divisions that support the management and operations of the adult institutions, adult Probation and Parole District Offices and all other services provided by the Department.
