HOLISTIC MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING
Most people come to counseling because they are experiencing symptoms like sadness, anxiety, anger, hurt, sleeplessness, inability to focus, frustration and the like. These symptoms are "a perfectly natural adjustment to a totally unnatural and negative environment" (RD Laing). Conventional counseling tends to focus on these perfectly normal symptoms as the problem and fails to seek out the source of the problem. This is why conventional counseling often provides a temporary solution.

Instead our counselors focus on healing and transcending the issues that we face by building an awareness of the source of the problem. Awareness gives us the power to heal. We begin to understand that our symptoms were there to protect and try to heal us. As a result, the potency of our symptoms begin to diminish and we are left with a more lasting healing rather than a temporary solution.

Another thing that makes us unique is our focus on a holistic approach. We consider all influences from your diet and exercise to your culture. We also encourage a natural approach first before turning to synthetic drugs. Many issues can be resolved with counseling, removal of allergens, increased exercise, improved diet, stress reduction techniques, and the like. We work closely with naturopathic doctors, acupuncturists, and other alternative providers to assure you are well taken care of.

Most psychopharmaceuticals have a long list of potential side effects like addiction, an array of physical ailments, and even death. These drugs may not only cause worse side effects than the original ailment but they usually offer a temporary solution. Symptoms often return after discontinuing a medication. This is why we look to natural remedies first or encourage natural remedies to minimize your need for psychopharmaceuticals. This is not to suggest that we are anti-psychopharmaceuticals or anti-western medicine. We also work closely with your prescribers to assure that your medications are appropriate and optimal for your situation. Sometimes medication is very necessary.

Keep in mind that no counselor can prescribe medication.

WILDERNESS THERAPY
The Vision Quest is a rite of passage or ceremony that has existed in some shape or form in nearly every culture around the world. For thousands of years it has thrived because it works and it works profoundly and powerfully.

In the tradition passed down to us, a person spends 4 days and 4 nights, alone in a Quest circle completely immersed in the beauty and healing environment of the wilderness. It is a fast from distractions and all things familiar. Without the noise of everyday life, things become silent and we begin to hear the gentle whispers of our heart. One might describe it as a journey deep into the soul or towards the Creator. It is in this journey that you begin to realize who you are, who you are not, and why you are here. Essentially this is 4 days and 4 nights...alone...with the Creator.

It is an extremely powerful experience that is bound to change one's life forever. For most, a person's Vision Quest becomes a marker in their lives that distinguishes from a false self to a true self.

MASSAGE THERAPY
All of our therapist are highly experienced and well trained. It doesn't matter if you're looking for a gentle relaxing massage, a deep tissue massage to work out those kinks, or a treatment massage to get you up and moving again; our therapists are more than capable of meeting your needs.

Our massage therapists can work closely with your doctor to meet those specific needs and diagnoses. Ask your doctor if they think therapeutic massage is right for you. You will need a referral if you want medical insurance to cover your treatment.

Our practitioners have years of experience working as medical massage therapists. They have been extensively trained to utilize specific techniques appropriate for acute/chronic issues. They work closely with your doctor to assure you are getting the best possible care.

With that said, they are also very capable of providing that relaxing massage to sooth your tension away.

Speech Therapy
Our speech therapist has been in the field for a long time working primarily in the school district. She is now moving her private practice closer to home, for the convenience of the residents in the Camano/Stanwood area.
