Paralegals in Ontario are regulated and licensed by the Law Society of Upper Canada.They are subject to much the same regulatory framework as lawyers.

This includes rules of professional conduct and requirements with respect to, insurance, continuing professional development, and a complaints system that includes investigative and disciplinary processes.

Paralegals in Ontario can help people with their legal matters in Ontario, by consultations, representing clients in Ontario’s legal system. Paralegals can represent client in;
• Small Claims Court ( up to $25,000)
• In Ontario Court of Justice under the Provincial Offences Act, such as
(Traffic / Parking Matters)
• Criminal (summary conviction offences only where the maximum penalty
does not exceed six months' imprisonment)
• Administrative tribunals
