General information

Gulf Basin Petroleum Recycling Company will be the first used oil recycler (under the current EPA definitions) to operate in the Gulf Basin. As our name implies, we are building a plant that will serve the needs of the entire Gulf Basin Region. To be located in the Port Bienville Industrial Park, the ~20 acre plant will include the capability to ship and receive materials by barge, rail and truck. Using the most technologically advanced re-refining technology, the Gulf Basin plant will produce Group 2 and 2+ Base Oils meeting all of the API standards for Base Oil; in addition to Asphalt Flux and Light Fuel Distillates. The plant will also include enhanced capabilities to handle used oils generated by the Marine Industry which often requires special handling or contains higher levels of contaminants. The plant will be an integral part of an Eco Park that will house several industries that either use or produce environmentally responsible products and services. Representing an investment of approximately $50,000,000 the plant will be responsible for creating 40 full time operational and management positions, and 40 to 75 indirect positions. In addition, the re-refining plant is expected to impact as many as 60,000 people associated with the generation and transportation of used oil and related products.

The impact of this new plant will go well beyond the direct jobs created. Based on current market pricing the plant expects to payout over $50,000,000 per year for used oil to transporters and generators in the plant service area. The plant will also showcase the use of advanced materials in many of its structures. True to its core beliefs, the plant will use advanced environmental technologies (composites for barges, storage tanks and flood protection barriers) and either recycle or eliminate almost all waste products and emissions.

As the first of several re-refineries planned by the developer, this plant looks to usher in a new age in the used oil business by partnering with existing collectors/transporters and providing the highest value market for their used oils.
